Two Ways To Be Rich

There are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring little. - Jackie French Koller

I was reading Ethan Hawke’s Rules for Knights a nice book about a knight’s final lesson to his children knowing he may be about to fight his last battle. This Jackie French Koller quote was mentioned.

” There are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring little “

One way can make us anxious, the other take anxiousness away. So the 2 strategies to be rich has one which is flawed because we know we can’t attract wealth with worry.

We can with solid trust.

Contentment to us is to focus on God, the Sovereign and Sufficient one where rest and faith are bountiful. How practical it is to live a rich life in Him.

But how come so few choose Him? How come so many choose the wide path that leads to dissapointment.

This afternoon, I was sharing a table with 2 businessmen talking about 2 businessmen, one is honest and the other a shrewd one. They lament over how the honest one alway loses out to the shrewd one.

I was saddened by principles people make up from temporary success. What they shared will never be made into a quote shared by many. But Jackie French Koller’s one will and so will Jesus’, when he said that “he has come to give us life and to give it abundantly”

  1. Hi

That was a good one. Thanks for the information about the book Rules for Knights.
But still one question remains, Hw could one be rich by desiring little?

    1. Thanks for your comment. When one is contented and have little desire beyond what they already have, they don’t need money to buy those needs. Those who are contented with what they have are usually generous and is able to give.I believe it is that giving that makes one life rich. It’s telling our subconscious we have enough to give. Just my opinion and 2 cents.
