Two Ways To Be Rich

There are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring little. - Jackie French Koller

I was reading Ethan Hawke’s Rules for Knights.

It’s a book about a knight’s lesson to his kids knowing he may fight his final battle. This Jackie French Koller quote captivated me.

” There are two ways to be rich: One is by acquiring much, and the other is by desiring little “

Both way makes us rich.

However one way makes us anxious, the other takes it away.

The way to be rich by acquiring much is flawed. No-one gets rich by acquiring that which does not satisfy in the long haul. Being rich by having little desires other than the desire to help, contribute and make things with our hands is more permanent.

Contentment is to focus on God. It is knowing that He is the sufficient for us. The way to be rich by desiring little will always be my way to a life that is rich.

What about you? What does that quote mean to you?

  1. Hi

That was a good one. Thanks for the information about the book Rules for Knights.
But still one question remains, Hw could one be rich by desiring little?

    1. Thanks for your comment. When one is contented and have little desire beyond what they already have, they don’t need money to buy those needs. Those who are contented with what they have are usually generous and is able to give.I believe it is that giving that makes one life rich. It’s telling our subconscious we have enough to give. Just my opinion and 2 cents.
